Excise Constable Selection Procedure
The selection process has 3 stages:
- Physical Measurement Test (PMT) & Physical Efficiency Test (PET) – Qualifying in nature.
- Written Examination (OMR Based or Computer Based if required) – Marks will be counted.
- Medical Examination – Qualifying in nature.
Written Examination Details
The written exam will be conducted in three papers.
Paper 1
- Hindi Language Knowledge – 80 questions
- English Language Knowledge – 40 questions
- Passing marks: 30% mandatory (qualifying only; marks not counted in merit).
Paper 2
- Regional language (choose one: Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Urdu, Bengali, Mundari, Ho, Santhali, Oraon, Kurmali, Nagpuri, Khortha, Panchpargania, Odia)
- 100 questions.
Paper 3
- General Knowledge – 120 questions:
- Jharkhand State knowledge – 50
- General Science – 20
- General Mathematics – 10
- Current Affairs, Indian Constitution, Freedom Struggle, Geography, History, Civics, Environmental Studies, etc. – remaining questions.
Each question = 3 marks. Wrong answer = -1 mark.

Candidates belonging to reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC/EWS) must produce genuine certificates:
